During Yunnan’s spring, witness the spectacular “Golden Sea” of canola fields, one of the best views in China. With endless fields of Canola flowers against the backdrop of rolling hills and expansive farmlands, it is guaranteed to be a photographer’s paradise. The Canola Flowers are harvested to be used as Canola oil, a major component in Chinese cooking. You may trek up the Jinji Mountain which offers the most breath-taking view of the flowers in full bloom. The 100 year old Lingyi temple also promises magnificent views of the fields.


TOUR ITINERARY

DAY 1: SINGAPORE - KUNMING - LUOPING

In the morning, you will take a flight to Kunming, the capital city of China’s Yunnan Province. Bestowed with a mild climate all year round, Kunming is also known as the Spring City. Upon arrival, you will be introduced to your guide and transferred to LuoPing. It will take 2.5 hours to reach LuoPing where you will be greeted with a “sea of yellow” – an expansive field of canola flowers. Visit the Duoyihe Scenic Area, a natural beauty of lakes, rivers and, flora and fauna.

DAY 2: LUOPING - MILE

After breakfast, transfer to JiuLong Water fall via cable car. The Jiulong Waterfall is made up of 10 cascades, each forming a pool underneath. The highest waterfall is 110 meters (360 ft.) wide and 56 meters (183 ft.) high. One can bask in the grandeur of the ten cascades while standing on the belvedere. After that, you will proceed to Jinji Peak to view the stunning expansive canola fields which make up the Sea of Yellow. Many photographers pay a visit to this area to capture the wonderful rural haven. You will then be taken around the Canola fields as well. After your visit to the fields, transfer to hotel to check-in.

DAY 3: MILE - YUANYANG

In the morning after breakfast, transfer to Yuanyang. The Yuanyang Rice Terraces are situated in the southern Ailao Mountains, dug out by the Hani people. Unlike the Longji Rice Terraces, the Yuanyang Rice Terraces are outstanding for their grandiose area and shallower slopes. The best time to witness Yunyang’s Rice Terraces is after the harvest, when the terraces have been irrigated. This usually takes place from January to March. If the weather permits, you may enjoy the sunset at the Tiger Mouth Rice Terrace – a sky saturated with warm colours, painting a magnificent sight to behold.

DAY 4: YUANYANG

After an early breakfast, we head to Duoyishu Scenic Area to enjoy the glorious sight of the sunrise. After that, we proceed to the Bada Terraces. The Bada Rice Terraces offers a picture-perfect sight of tiered rice fields and a reflection of the rural farm life. After that, we will continue to Hani Village of Wingkou to gain insights of the life and culture of the Hani people. The ancestors of the Hani people came to this area around 2,500 years ago from the Qinhai-Tibetan plateau. In their struggle against the hilly terrain they successfully built the terraces, where they grow rice in order to make a living. You will also pay a visit to the unique mushroom dwellings where the Hani people reside, and understand the lifestyle of the Hani people.

DAY 5: YUANYANG - FUXIAN LAKE

After breakfast, you will be driven to Fuxian Lake which is the second deepest lake in China. People in the Fuxian Lake area are of southwest China's Yunnan Province. They are environmentally conscious and have taken preliminary measures to protect their precious natural resources. Fuxian Lake is famous for its beautiful, rustic scenery, and it’s Kanglang Fish. After taking in the gorgeous scenery surrounding the lake, you will proceed to Biyun Temple. Biyun Temple is also known as Little Wudang Temple and it is located in Biyun Mountain with a total area of 150,000 square meters, and 3,037 square meters architecture area. It is one of the three major Buddhism venues in Jiangchuan County and was first built during the Ming dynasty.

DAY 6: FUXIAN LAKE - DONGCHUAN

In the morning after breakfast, you will be driven to Dongchuan. Prepare your cameras to capture a magnificent sunset at Lepuao

DAY 7: DONGCHUAN - KUNMING

Dongchuan, a rural area in the northeast of Kunming, is believed to hold the world's most imposing red earth. Its picturesque muted red landscape is a paradise for photographers and is a site that is not to be missed.

If the weather permits, we will take an early drive in the morning to witness the breath-taking view of the sunrise on the red soil at Damakan. Your journey continues to the Colorful Slopes and Scenic Red Soil Garden, an outstanding terrain of soft greens and reds, also nicknamed as “God’s Palatte”. In the afternoon, transfer to Kunming. 

Upon arrival, go on a tour in the city center. See the Golden horse & Jade peacock Archway and Nanping Pedestrian Street. It is widely believed that the Golden Horse and Jade Peacock represent the Gods of the sun and moon, respectively.

DAY 8: KUNMING (Departure)

After a sumptuous breakfast at the hotel, visit the Yuantong Zoo to enjoy the cherry blossoms – a lovely conclusion to the tour. When it is time, be transferred to the airport to take a flight back to Singapore.
