11 DAYS HISTORIC MACEDONIA & GREECE
DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN SKOPJE
Upon arrival in Skopje, Alexander the Great airport, meet your tour guide and transfer to city center.
Go on a city tour and witness the interesting architecture and culture and get a glimpse Kale Fortress. Visit Mother Teresa Memorial House, St Spas Church, famous for its architecture. After this monument, you will visit at Mustafa Pasha Mosque. The mosque is largely intact from its original state, and no additions have been made through the years. During this tour, you will also visit Alexandre The Great, Monument. Along the way you will admire the fusion of baroque, secession and eclectic architectural styles. Then you will visit The Hamam, in the Old Bazaar of Skopje.
At the end of this guided tour of Skopje you will have your free time for lunch. Check-in hotel after 2pm and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
DAY 2: SKOPJE – OHRID
After having breakfast, depart towards St.Naum Monastery in Ohrid. Upon arrival you will have free time for lunch and after you will meet the local guide and start your tour. The monastery was established in the Bulgarian Empire in 905 by St Naum of Ohrid himself. St Naum is also buried in the church. The Lake Ohrid area, including St Naum, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Macedonia. After visit, transfer to Ohrid and check-in hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.
DAY 3: OHRID
Meet your local guide after breakfast for an interesting tour in one of the most historic cities in Macedonia. Ohrid is one of the most historic cities in Macedonia. Ohrid is notable for once having had 365 churches, one for each day of the year, and has been referred to as a "Jerusalem (of the Balkans)". The city is rich in picturesque houses and monuments, and tourism is predominant.
After the lunch you will enjoy the boat trip lake shore (approximately 45 - 60 minutes). After the boat trip a free time for dinner and overnight.
DAY 4: OHRID – GJIROKASTER
After breakfast at the hotel, check-out and depart to Gjirokastra. On enroute, we will make a short stop in Elbasan for coffee. You may like to have your own lunch in the city center.
Head towards Gjirokastra and check-in hotel upon arrival. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.
DAY 5: GJIROKASTER
After breakfast at the hotel, meet your local guide and start the city tour of historic Gjirokastra the Stone City. In This marvelous city you will visit Gjirokastra Castel or known with the Name of Argjiro Castle situated on the top of the city. You will also visit another typical house named according to one of the most important and powerful families in Gjirokastra Skendulaj House. Also you will visit the Old Bazzar of the city the city center and the house of the famous writer of Albania Ismail Kadare.
After visit, have a free time for lunch in Gjirokastra in a traditional restaurant. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. You may like to do some shopping in Old Bazar.
DAY 6: GJIROKASTER – BLUE EYES NATURAL SPRING – KALAMBAKA
Check-out after breakfast at the hotel, meet your local guide and transfer to Blue Eye Natural Spring Resort.
This natural, deep spring embodies the clear, vibrant blue color water that bubbles up to the surface helps create the illusion of an eye, with the dark-colored center as the pupil, and the surrounding blue water appearing as the iris. The spring is reported to be about 45 meters deep, but some say it goes even further. After visit, have lunch on enroute and proceed to Kalambaka.
DAY 7: KALAMBAKA
After breakfast, meet with the local guide and start the city tour of Kalambaka. Visit 3 main monasteries of Meteora (Moni Megalou, Moni Agios Varvaras, Moni Agiou Stefanou) and the natural beauty and the cultural heritage of the area. This tour will take you back to the dark ages and the story of the first hermits and monks who laid the foundations of what later on became the monastic community of Meteora. You will climb the steep rocks of Meteora and taking photos of the most beautiful panoramic spots. Have free time for lunch and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
DAY 8: KALAMBAKA – DELPHI
Check-out and transfer to Delphi. Upon arrival you will have free time for lunch.
Meet with your local guide for the city tour of Delphi. Visit one of the most important archeological sites in Greek history. The Temple of Apollo, Sanctuary of Athena, Gymnasium and stroll around Delphi Archeological Museum. Admire unique treasures such as the world famous bronze Charioteer, the Naxian Sphinx and the Statue of Antinoos and many other masterpieces of classical Greek art. Have free time for shopping and dinner in Delphi.
DAY 9: DELPHI – ATHENS
After breakfast, check-out and transfer to Athens. Free time for lunch before starting your city tour. Discover some of Greece’s greatest treasures and the best of modern Athens. Tour starts at Acropolis, the site of some of the most important masterpieces of worldwide architecture and art, the most renowned of which is the Parthenon temple.
From the rock you have an impressive view of the city. Only 300m away from the sacred rock of Acropolis stands the impressive Acropolis Museum, one of the most important contemporary works of architecture in Athens. Visit also Sidagma, Ermou Street and the Monastriraki Old Bazzar.
DAY 10: ATHENS – TEMPLE OF POSEIDON
This morning, meet your driver and drive along the road to Cape Sounion, circling the idyllic Saronic Gulf, and you come to one of the most iconic sights in Greece: the columns of the Temple of Poseidon, framing the blue sea backdrop since 44 BC. After visiting the Temple of Poseidon with a professional local guide, transfer back to Athens. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.
DAY 11: ATHENS (DEPARTURE)
Have some leisure time before transfer to airport for your flight home.
