TOUR ITINERARY

DAY 9: LIMA – PARACAS  

This morning we will be driven for approximately 4 hours to the southern region of Pisco. Along the route, we will appreciate the immensity of the Peruvian desert, which will be suddenly interrupted by fertile valleys.

Upon our arrival in Pisco, will head to the airfield to board the aircraft that will allow us appreciate the gigantic Nazca Lines, that are only visible from air and that still keep the mystery about the reason why the ancient Nazca people traced them, as well as the methods used to draw such huge figures with such amazing precision. 

Have lunch and spend the remaining day at leisure before dinner.

DAY 10: PARACAS – BALLESTAS – LIMA 

From the pier located at our hotel, we will board the vessel that will allow us enjoy one of the main attractions of Ica: The Ballestas Islands. During our journey, we will have the chance to appreciate the Candelabro (candlestick) which is thought to have relation with the enigmatic Nazca Lines. 

Transfer back to Lima for lunch. Overnight in Lima

DAY 11: LIMA – CUSCO 

Depending on flight timing, transfer to the airport to catch your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival, transfer to the city center. 

In the afternoon, we will tour around the former capital of the Inca Empire. During this half day tour, we will visit Korikancha (Temple of Sun) where we will find one of the best samples of the ability of the Incas working the stone. 

Afterwards, we will head to the monuments that surround the city, like Sacsayhuaman which is an impressive fortress built using rocks of extraordinary measures that were taken from a nearby quarry. We will continue to Qenqo, Puca Pucara and the Inca bath of Tambomachay. Dinner at MAP Café located in a pre- Columbian Art Museum.

DAY 12: CUSCO – MACHU PICCHU 

This day, you will be transferred very early this morning to the station to board the train that will take us to the Lost City of the Incas.

We will first arrive in the town of Machu Picchu, formerly known as Aguas Calientes where we will take a bus that will transfer us to the Citadel of Machu Picchu, without doubts, the best proof of the perfection of the Inca ability working the stone. 

During a guided tour we will experience the uniqueness of the location and the genius that went into its construction, making this Inca site one of the seven new wonders of the world. We will find temples and houses as well as its famous Intihuatana (Sun Clock), which was finely carved on stone.

DAY 13: MACHU PICCHU - SACRED VALLEY – CUSCO  

Catch a train from Machu Picchu to Ollantaytambo. Once arrived, we will visit the famous market located in the town of Pisac, where the color and flavor of its products perfectly combines with the happiness of its people avid to share their culture with all visitors. After lunch, we will walk around its narrow streets where we will amaze ourselves with the beauty of the its houses made of adobe and where we will find its famous fortress which remain as a silent witness of the battle between the troops lead by Manco Inca.

DAY 14: CUSCO – PUNO 

We will be transferred to the Wanchaq station where we will board the Andean Explorer train that will head us to Puno, the folklore capital of the Americas. During the ten hours journey, we will delight ourselves with the amazing views of the Andean Range. We will make a stop at the highest point of the route: La Raya which is located at 4,312m. Upon our arrival in Puno, transfer to hotel for check-in and dinner.

DAY 15: PUNO – LIMA 

After breakfast, transfer to the pier of Puno where we will board the vessel that will take us to the Floating Islands of Uros whose people are considered as the oldest inhabitants of the Andean Plateau who decided to live in this inhospitable environment in order to avoid the imposition of foreign cultures. We will continue heading to Taquile Island, where we will observe the traditions that have been jealously kept by the community that inhabits it. 

In the late afternoon, transfer to the airport to catch a flight to Lima. Overnight in Lim.

DAY 16: LIMA 

Spend the day at leisure before it is time to transfer to airport to catch your international flight home.

 

 

 

 

 

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN QUITO

Arrive in Quito, meet your driver and transfer to hotel for check-in.

DAY 2: QUITO – GALAPAGOS

Transfer to airport to board flight to Galapagos. 

Upon arrival, we will meet the naturalist guides that will take us for approximately 10 minutes by bus, to the pier to board the M/V Galapagos Legend.

In the afternoon, we will head to the north shore of Santa Cruz Island, accessible only by sea where four species of mangrove crowd from the shore out into the lagoon, turtle enjoy swimming in the calm waters, peaking their heads above the surface while fish, rays and small sharks circle below. This cove has been declared as a “Turtle Sanctuary”.

DAY 3: GALAPAGOS (Santiago Island & Rabida Island)

In the morning, we will visit the south-eastern portion of Santiago Island, and is of important geologic interest since it features extensive lava flows believed to have been formed during the last quarter of the 19th century.

Rábida is considered the epicentre of the Galapagos Islands due to the diversity of its volcanic geology. Nesting Brown Pelicans are found from July through September and nine species of the famous Darwin’s finches can be seen. We will also take a dinghy ride along cliffs to observe nesting seabirds, and snorkel off the coast, where marine life is particularly active.

DAY 4: GALAPAGOS (Isabela Island)

This morning, we will visit the volcanic “black” beach. Depending on the season, we may find giant tortoises, land iguanas and the unusual Flightless Cormorant. After a short walk inland, we will explore the uplifted coral reef that resulted from 1954 volcanic activity, with a spectacular view of Alcedo Volcano.

Visit Tagus Cove after lunch. The trail leads to Darwin’s salt-water crater Lake and excellent views of lava fields and volcanic formations. We will return by the same path for a dinghy ride along a shoreline full of marine wildlife, where we will admire a variety of seabirds (depending on season).

DAY 5: GALAPAGOS (Fernandina) 

Espinosa Point is the only spot that we visit on Fernandina, and from it we can see the island of Isabela across the Bolívar Channel, an area that boasts some of the highest diversity of endemic sea fauna in the Galapagos. The largest, most primitive-looking race of marine iguanas are found mingling with sea lions and Sally Lightfoot Crabs.

Afternoon, go on a great deep-water* snorkeling at one of the richest marine havens on Earth (Bolívar Channel). We take a dinghy ride along the coast to observe a great diversity of sea and coastal birds*. 


DAY 6: GALAPAGOS – QUITO

After breakfast, disembark cruise ship. Take a 45-minute bus ride will take us to the Santa Cruz highlands, located to the northwest of Puerto Ayora, where we will find a natural reserve with giant tortoises. These enormous and slow-moving reptiles are responsible for the island’s name and therefore approaching them in their humid and forested abode is always an inspiring adventure. 

Later, passengers will be transferred to Baltra airport for return flight to Quito.

DAY 7: GALAPAGOS – QUITO 

Go on a city tour of Quito. The tour includes parks like El Ejido and Alameda, the gothic Basilica of the Heart of Jesús as well as the Metropolitan Cathedral with excellent samples of the Spanish renaissance.

After lunch, we will head approximately 18 Km to the north part of downtown Quito to visit “Mitad del Mundo” (Middle of the World) and the Equator Monument situated at 0º0’0” latitude. We also visit the Intiñan Solar Museum, where you’ll find scientific and experimental aspects of being right at the Equator.

Transfer to airport to catch your flight to Lima. 

Upon arrival at Jorge Chávez International Airport, we will meet with our guide and transfer to hotel for check-in. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. 

DAY 8: LIMA 

After breakfast, go on a half day tour around modern Lima starting in Miraflores, the perfect point to enjoy views of the bay and the Pacific Ocean and where it is perfectly combined the modernity of its constructions with the legacy of ancient Peruvian like the pre-Hispanic site of Pucllana. 

Continue to tour the downtown Lima visiting the Government Palace and the Cathedral. During the tour, we will visit the Convent of San Francisco where we will appreciate its priceless pieces of art and its famous catacombs. After lunch, we will visit the private collection that belong to Don Rafael Larco Hoyle which is displayed in a beautiful Republican Mansion built on the foundations of a pre-Inca temple. Have dinner at a local restaurant located at the shores of the Pacific Ocean. Overnight in Lima
